FAQ 4 Unwanted Blank Lines in Templates

How to correctly format printing of accounts

Unwanted blank lines in VT Charity accounts are a problem caused by the complexity of charity accounting when some lines in some cases are needed and in others are not.

If we autohide every line in every circumstance, we end up without some blank lines that are actually needed for cosmetic reasons. We are aware of this problem, and are attempting to improve it with every release. We did email some guidance notes on this issue to users earlier in the year.

Essentially, unwanted blank lines can be deleted using the standard Excel delete command provided the number sequence of the rows to be deleted is consecutive.

If there is a jump in the number sequence the rows on either side of the jump should be deleted separately to avoid deleting autohidden notes which might cross refer elsewhere. If the number sequence is consecutive then no harm is done by using the delete command.
