Accountants can now file accounts with Charity Commission
Charity Commission wll accept pdf from accountants
The Charity Commission are eager to promote e-filing of documents.
However, in the past there has been a glitch in that accounts filed electronically had to be a part of the Annual Return which had to be completed by trustees - so in practice, electronic filing of accounts by accountants immediately the accounts were finished was just not possible.
Following representations the Charity Commission have now explained that the following procedure can be followed to permit accountants to file accounts independently of the Annual Return.
"The accounts do not have to be filed with the annual return. The independent examiner can send us the charity's accounts in PDF without having to do it via the online annual return route. They can use our general email address and attach the PDF document, with a brief narrative as to what they are submitting. The CCD email team will direct this to the charity information forms and accounts queue in CRM. They will then be processed onto the system."
THis should make life rather simpler for charities and their accountants
